Staffing: A Job for Human Resource Management

If you work for a large company, they will have at most 20 different departments working on different tasks. The Human Resource Management department works on hiring, maintaining and evaluating people working for the company. Of course, they also handle requests and other matters concerning the company. Part of their job is handling staffing.

Staffing is a broad task on its own. It involves identifying the needs of the company and the jobs that would fit those needs. If the job description still doesn’t exist as an official job title, the HRM department provides the description and makes it as an available position to fill. They make the definition including eligibility and required tasks that a person must be able to perform in order to take the position offered.

This also entails knowing until when the job position is needed, depending on the needs of the company. If the company building needs some repairs or overall maintenance, there’s a chance that the company would want to hire a temporary repairman or painter. It is the task of the HRM department to state the duration of the job and what the person can expect out of the job. Staffing highly depends on the needs of the company therefore they are also involved with regards of firing or closing departments that serve little or no purpose within the company. Although the latter rarely happens, it’s up to the HRM department to see to compensations or alternative jobs to distribute people in.
