Job Description:

The client is in need of a Testing & Specification Engineer to coordinate all testing for in-house research and development, in-house customer performance evaluation (branded systems), and third party independent testing for code compliance evaluation.


Roles and Responsibilities



  • Coordinate and conduct the scheduling, preparation, and execution of all testing to support in-house research and development activities, in-house customer performance evaluations (branded systems), and third party independent testing for code compliance evaluations. Testing activities cover assembled door systems, doorway subsystems, doorway components, and materials.
  • Prepare necessary documentation and materials to support testing activity, including bill of materials, assembly drawings, component specifications, and materials and associated hardware.
  • Document results of all testing performed. Create and maintain database of test results and reports generated both internally and externally.
  • Interface with customers in the creation and finalization of system configuration and performance specifications.
  • Distribute specifications and test results to appropriate internal departments to facilitate activities related to product development, marketing, customer support and manufacturing.
  • Maintain database/library of all applicable industry standards, including ASTM, AAMA, ANSI, WDMA, and FBC. Ensure latest revisions are available on-site.
  • Supervise all testing personnel.

Experience


2-3 years experience in a test environment. Experience in the fenestration industry is preferred.


Skills and Abilities


Proficiency with 3D CAD systems, preferably Pro/Engineer, and in MS Office software. Detail oriented with excellent math skills. Ability to work well with project timeframes and deliver timely results. Essential woodshop skills including the ability to use power tools and to build and install door systems preferred. Travel as required, up to 20%.
